“I miss who I was when I was with him.”

For the uninitiated, I frequent the cinemas once a week. Yesterday’s movie of the week was “The Brave One”. In it, the character Erica Bairns (played by Jodie Foster) said something to Mercer (played by Terrence Howard, my current woo-hoo!) that I took away with me even after I left the cinema halls.

She said, “I miss who I was when I was with him.”

Can you relate to that? I sure can.

Ever notice that we are different persons when we are around different people? I do not mean just the different roles and personas that we play. I mean that different people bring out the different sides in us.

Being with some people brings out the best in us, whilst being with some others brings out the worst in us. And we are truly different persons with different people.

I know he truly brings out the best in me. I hope I do him, too.

When Green Apples are Sweet

What happens when something totally unexpected takes you by surprise? A pleasant surprise at that, mind you.

For some, they like to take the trip down the unexpected and welcome whatever life throws at them with open arms.

For some, routine is what their core essence is made of. A slight diversion from the original route makes them nervous and fidgety.

Whichever defines you, a pleasant surprise is sure to put a smile on your face.

So, instead of waiting for it to happen to you… why not be it for someone? To put that smile on someone’s face.

Perhaps, a phone call/text message to someone that is long overdue, a ‘sorry’ that seems to be the hardest word, a lacy and racy Victoria’s Secret to welcome your honey after work.

Whatever it is, be that green apple that is sweet.

You’re Just Too Good to be True

Woke up this morning with an SMS on my iPAQ blinking with just these two words, “Want breakfast?”

Note: Not DO breakfast, but WANT breakfast; ie that particular person already knew that I wouldn’t be able to make it for breakfast together and still offered to pack a to-go breakkie for me.

Before I could even consider whether I wanted breakfast or otherwise, to take that particular person up on the offer or otherwise, to inconvenient that particular person or otherwise, the SMS was followed up by a call.

Showed up at work with breakfast on my desk already waiting for me. Beside the carefully laid pack, was a cup of homemade brewed concoction, as that particular person knows that I’m feeling rather under the weather lately.

I’m indeed blessed. You know who you are, thank you.
